So Scott and I had been looking around the Vancouver area to see if we could purchase a property. We came to the resolution that we would mostlikely be living in Burnaby, in a 3 bedroom townhouse and we wouldn't be entirely satisfied but we would be on the property ladder. In 2008, when we came to Vancouver on a holiday, we found a realestate agent Patrick Weeks ( www.patrickweeks.ca ) who was totally awesome and took around to view some properties. We liked him so much that we maintained in contact with him for 3 years until we could finally afford to purchase in the very very expensive city of Vancouver. Patrick had shown us a cute little 1/2 duplex on Fraser & 12th, which we really liked, so we put an offer in. Unfortunately, the owners just would not move on their price and hence their house is still on the market!! Nah Nah!! That is what you get for being greedy! So that leads us to 2372 Nanaimo Street! Patrick listed this house and called us once he signed the agreement and said this place was just perfect for us. In the Vancouver area, needs alot of work, 3 bedrooms, basement, patio and a back yard for Marlie the cannotstopeatingeverythinginmysight Lab x Border Collie :) So we jumped in the car, did a drive by and feel in love immediately. Mind you we hadn't gone inside that property at that time but the outside was just perfect! So we waited a week, and went to the open house with another 50 people and realised that the house was one of those detonate or renovate jobs! We had a lot of competition, the location is great, the lot size is great and the price is right. So Scott and I had a serious little chat and decided to put an offer in. It was a few very stressful days waiting on if our offer was successful, and what do you know!!, we got the house....yippee!! So now comes the fun part ( NOT ). Building inspections, finance, electrical inspections, house insurance...you know the drill! All of those very important grown up things that we all don't want to deal with. So 2 months later, we move in on the 30th June 2011. Phew! What a long drawn out process. We were so very lucky to have lots of awesome friends that helped us move, without them it certainly wouldn't have been as easy. Thanks for driving the truck Chris! So many hands make light work, and I must admit it was pretty light work for me being 6 months pregnant. Still very stressful all the same.
